As part of the Comprehensive Plan Update, cities and towns within Yakima County will be updating their Urban Growth Areas. Urban Growth Areas (UGAs) are places where cities expect and encourage development outside their city limits that is urban in nature. The UGA of any particular city is designated so that it can accommodate 20 years of growth, according to the Office of Financial Management’s population projections.

Yakima County will be working with large and small jurisdictions to update the boundaries of their particular UGAs. If you are interested in whether a UGA update may affect you, check the Staff Contacts to see which staff person is working with the officials in your city or town.
