NICHCY is a national information clearinghouse whose purpose is to assist 
parents, educators, caregivers, advocates and others working to improve the 
lives of children and youth with disabilities.  NICHCY is an information service 
specializing in educational issues, but also providing information on a broad 
range of topics concerning the needs of children and youth with disabilities.  
NICHCY has established a strong networking effort with parent groups 
throughout the country.  Services include:  (1) Personal responses to specific 
questions; (2) Referrals to other organizations/sources of help; (3) Information 
packets;  (4) NICHCY publications - NEWS DIGEST and TRANSITION 
SUMMARY; and (5) Technical assistance to parent and professional groups.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:  No restrictions

AREA SERVED:  Nationwide

FEES:  There is a small fee for some publications, although most are free.

HOURS:  9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.  Eastern Standard Time  Monday through 
Friday.  (A recorder will take caller's message all other hours.)
