Complete in black ink the Case Cover Sheet, the Petition, the Law Enforcement Sheet and the Identification Sheet. If you feel you cannot afford the $83.00 filing fee, please complete the Waiver Application.
The person who is asking for protection is the Petitioner. The person you are requesting protection from is the Respondent.
Do not omit any information; the Respondent’s date of birth and current complete address is essential. The order cannot be served or entered without it.
Once you have completed the packet return to either the Yakima County Courthouse or to the Grandview District Court location and file it with the court. We will need to see picture identification at the time you file as well as witness your signature.
At the time you file you, will need to pay the $83.00 filing fee. If you are applying for the waiver, you will be given instruction on how to proceed at the time you file.
IF AN EMERGENCY SITUATION EXISTS AND YOU NEED EMERGENCY PROTECTION, YOU CAN APPLY FOR A TEMPORARY ORDER. THIS ORDER, ONCE SERVED ON THE RESPONDENT, PROVIDES EMERGENCY COVERAGE UP TO 14 DAYS DURING WHICH TIME YOUR HEARING FOR A ONE YEAR ORDER OF PROTECTION WILL BE SCHEDULED.
