Yakima County Planning Commission to Make Recommendation
on Critical Areas Ordinance & Shoreline Master Program

YAKIMA, WA – The Yakima County Planning Commission will take its final action on the proposed updates to the County’s Critical Areas Ordinance (CAO) and Shoreline Master Program (SMP) at a public hearing scheduled for Wednesday, February 28, 2007.

At the hearing the commission will review and approve its finding of facts and finalize its recommendation on the proposed updates.  Following the hearing, the commission’s recommendations will be submitted to the Board of County Commissioners, which will conduct its own hearings on the proposed updates later this year. 

According to County officials, the public is invited to attend the hearing but the commission will not accept any additional testimony. 

The hearing concludes a nearly three-month process of public hearings and deliberations by the commission on the proposed updates.
