2010 Planning Case Applications Summary

In the past three months there has been a slight decrease in the number of applications submitted.  The higher number of SEPAs for the month of May is attributed to SEPAs associated with the January zoning files (comprehensive plan amendment proposals).  This year now appears to be very similar to 2009, which was the lowest year on record for the past 10 years.

Planning Division Fee Schedule Update

A public hearing will likely be scheduled in November regarding a comprehensive Planning fees update-the first since 1990.  The public hearing has not been scheduled yet.  The Board of County Commissioners will be considering changes to the Planning fee schedule during the next two months to address cost recovery, Hearing Examiner expenses, and Planning levels of service.

Comprehensive Plan/ Text Amendment Proposals Update

The Planning Commission completed review of five Comprehensive Plan amendment proposals and six Text Amendment proposals.  After four study sessions and two public hearings, the Planning Commission is forwarding their recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners.  Details on the proposals can be found on the Yakima County Planning web page at: http://www.yakimacounty.us/planning/CPA.htm

No hearing date has been set by the Board of County Commissioners yet.  Hearings are likely to be scheduled for October.
