The Water Resources Advisory Committee (WRAC) is the citizens committee convened in accordance with the recommendations of the Watershed Management Plan, Yakima Basin, January 2003. It was established from former Planning Unit members and others and is composed of representatives of counties, cities, irrigation and conservation districts, state and federal agencies, Washington State University, agricultural and environmental interests, and concerned citizens.
The WRAC’s initial task was to develop a Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP).
The WRAC met several times during 2007 to organize, develop and refine the DIP based upon input from Implementing Partners before approving it on July 23, 2007 and recommending County approval, which occurred in September 2007. They later reviewed applications from Partners and made recommendations for pass-through grants.
The WRAC is now charged with monitoring progress toward achieving the goals and objectives of the Plan as described in the DIP. Its ongoing roles will include annually tracking project implementation, recommending updates of the DIP to the Yakima Basin Water Resources Agency board of directors, updating the Watershed Management Plan as needed, and recommending future pass-through grant recipients.
