Building and Fire Safety Home Page - The Building and Fire Safety Division mission is to safegaurd the public from hazardous conditions in the design, construction, use, and maintenance of the built environment.

Building and Contruction - The Buidling and Fire Safety team of Yakima County plays a vital role in keeping our homes and businesses safe.

Building Inspection - The Building Inspection program provides inspection services for building construction to ensure compliance with approved plans, and local and State building code laws.

Code Enforcement - The Code Enforcement Section of the Building and Fire Safety Division is responsible for enforcing the provisions of Washington State laws, codified in the Revised Code of Washington (RCW’s), Yakima County Code and Ordinances related to building, health, and fire issues, and regulatory public nuisances, dangerous buildings, and zoning matters.

Development Services Center - The Development Services Center coordinates and streamlines the development review and construction permit process.

Fire and Life Safety - Fire and Life Safety personnel work closely with Architects, Contractors, Fire Protection Engineers, and our Building Plans Examiners on construction projects to ensure the applicable fire and safety measures are in place.

Fire and Life Safety Inspection Program - The Fire and Life Safety Inspection (FLS) program is a major program within the Fire and Life Safety Division with the primary emphasis on keeping you in business.

Fire and Life Safety Permit Fees - Fees associted with various permits and inspections.

Fire and Life Safety Plan Review - Fire and Life Safety personnel work closely with Architects, Contractors, Fire Protection Engineers, and our Building Plans Examiners on construction projects to ensure the applicable fire and safety measures are in place.

Plan Review - The Plan Review program is staffed by International Code Council Certified Building Plans Examiners who review each building plan to ensure compliance with applicable local, state and federal building, plumbing, energy, mechanical, and/or fire codes, ordinances, laws and regulations.

Public Safety Education - The role of Fire Safety Educator has expanded into an all risk educator.
