SERVICES PROVIDED: The purpose of the program is to reunite,
maintain, and strengthen families and to prevent out-of-home placement of
children; to alleviate situations which present a threat to the health or
stability of the child or family; and to maintain families in tact whenever
possible. The service consists of two parts:
(1) Intake Assessment Services - Short-term counseling aimed at
resolving the immediate problem (e.g., violence, running away,
etc.), assessing the immediate problems and exploring options
leading to resolution of the problem. This type of service is
time-limited to 4 hours or less.
(2) Crisis Counseling Service (Phase II) - Time-limited counseling
(maximum of 15 hours within 30 days) with the goal of helping
families resolve the immediate conflict. Referrals are made to other
community agencies or services as deemed appropriate when long-term counseling or other help is needed.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Open to any family experiencing a crisis
problem with children.
AREA SERVED: Yakima County, including Lower Yakima Valley through
offices in Toppenish and Sunnyside.
FEES: None
HOURS: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Crisis intervention
is available evenings, weekends, and holidays through on-call
socialworkers.
