SERVICES PROVIDED: Pregnancy Loss Support Group is a group for
persons having experienced a miscarriage, the birth of a stillborn baby or a
baby who dies shortly after birth. Services include telephone contact with a
trained volunteer parent; hospital contact with a bereavement counselor;
monthly meetings held to discuss common concerns and experiences and
to share information, with regular presentations by experts in various areas;
educational programs for health care professionals, clergy and other
interested parties; pamphlets detailing common experiences and feelings
following a miscarriage, stillbirth or death of a newborn; a collection of
reading materials for parents and health care professionals; genetic
counseling; and consultation with and referrals to appropriate resources as
needed.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: The group is open to parents, families
and other persons interested in learning more about pregnancy loss.
AREA SERVED: This group serves Yakima County.
FEES: This is a non-profit group, and all services are provided free of
charge.
HOURS: This group meets monthly. Private meetings with parents are
also available upon request, and telephone contacts are always available.

REFERRAL PROCEDURE: Referrals are automatic when a patient at
Memorial Hospital. Contacts with parents are made at the request of a
family physician, social worker, or registered nurse. Parents and families
are encouraged to contact the group themselves through monthly meetings
or by calling the parents listed in the Support Groups's pamphlets,
available upon request. Meetings are open to anyone in need of services.
