Budget Action in the Senate
Specter/Harkin amendment to the Budget Resolution
Washinton,
DC
March
15, 2006 The Senate vote on the Specter/Harkin amendment to the Budget
Resolution is now expected to occur tomorrow. The Specter/Harkin amendment
proposes restoring funding for all programs within the Labor, HHS and Education
Appropriations Subcommittee to FY 05 levels, including WIA. The delay in the
vote allows groups from the health, education, and workforce communities an
extra day to weigh in with their Senators in support of the amendment.
Senators Specter and Harkin are asking NWA's
assistance in support of their amendment, which would be a tremendous boost to
WIA funding. The vote on their amendment is expected to be extremely close.
Please contact your home state Senators and ask them to support the
Specter/Harkin amendment to the Budget Resolution, which is expected to be
voted on tomorrow. If you do not know your Senators' telephone numbers,
please contact the Senate switchboard at 202 224-3121 and the operator will
connect you to your Senators' offices.
