Farmland Preservation

The Office of Farmland Preservation (OFP) awarded a $25,000 grant (GRANT NO. 11- YAKIMAOFP-08) to the Yakima County Planning Division. The grant’s goal was to develop criteria to identify farmlands with high priority farms for preservation. Stakeholders were identified and surveyed via telephone and electronically. The survey results identified the ranking criteria and provided other pertinent data that will benefit Yakima County during code updates, policy work, and public outreach. The maps may be used for helping willing farmers enter into farmland preservation programs.
