Current Public Participation Opportunities

• Public Hearing on the proposed West Valley Neighborhood Plan (10-28-09 draft) and Area-wide Zoning Map: December 2, 2009, 7:00-9:00 pm. At the Harman Senior Center, 101 North 65th Ave., Yakima. Conducted by the Yakima Urban Area Regional Planning Commission (RPC) .

After the public hearing, the RPC will deliberate to consider changes to the draft West Valley Neighborhood Plan and Area-wide Zoning Map before making its recommendation to the Yakima City Council and the Board of County Commissioners. The RPC is scheduled to deliberate on December 17 & 21, 3:00-5:00 pm, at the City Council Chambers in City Hall, 129 N. Second Street, Yakima. The RPC will continue deliberating in January 2010, but the dates have not yet been scheduled.

Future Public Participation Opportunities

• Public Hearing on the WVNP conducted by the Yakima City Council and Board of County Commissioners. Date & time not yet determined.

 

What is the West Valley Neighborhood Plan? 

The WVNP is a “subarea plan” of the Yakima Urban Area Comprehensive Plan 2025 ( 5.43 MB). It is intended to be jointly adopted by both the City of Yakima and Yakima County to provide a common vision for the future physical development of the “Planning Area.”

What are the boundaries of the “Planning Area?” 

The “Planning Area” is the western portion of the Yakima Urban Growth Area.
