Narrative: On 11/8/09 at 0137 hrs a Yakima County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a vehicle at the 600 blk of Casey Rd for a moving violation.  The vehicle failed to stop and led deputies on a chase into the City of Toppenish.  The vehicle crashed into the ditch in front of the Best Western Hotel. The male driver fled from the scene. He was arrested a short time later not far from the location.
    Speeds reached as high as 100 MPH prior to entering Toppenish. Traffic was light.
    The driver and one of passengers had warrants for their arrest.
    The driver had been ingesting drugs. A Drug Recognition Expert conducted an evaluation on the suspect. He was booked into jail for Eluding, DUI, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and several other charges.
     This case remains under investigation.
