Narrative: Overnight on 11-5-09 unknown individuals entered the West Hills Memorial Park cemetery at 11800 Douglas Road in unincorporated Yakima County Washington. The suspects removed 217 brass vases from headstone markers. This theft amounts to a loss of approximately $106,500.
It is likely that the suspects have tried to destroy the vases and turn them in for scrap metal. Three individuals attempted to turn in what were likely the destroyed vases as scrap to Chicago Junk in Yakima. All three arrived in a white 1982 AMC Concorde, Washington license 113 YOE. The suspects are described as follows:
Suspect #1: – White male, late 20’s, approximately 6 feet tall, medium build with dark brown or black hair.
Suspect #2: – White female, late 20’s, brown hair pulled back in a pony tail.
Suspect #3: – White male
The brass vases have been painted in brown and a dark green. Photos of the styles of the stolen vases are shown in the photographs below.
