On 01-04-12 at approx. 8:40 pm, YSO Deputies were dispatched to an armed robbery that had just taken place on Hall Rd., located in the Gleed area. The victim reported that his neighbor had confronted him in his driveway while armed with a rifle. The suspect demanded the victim’s truck and the victim complied. The suspect then fled in the stolen 2006 Dodge Truck.
While at the scene, phone contact was made with the suspect’s wife. She reported that she was currently at work in Selah and had just seen the victim’s truck in the parking lot. She was fearful that her husband was there to possibly harm her. The suspect vehicle left the parking lot prior to her realizing that it was possibly her husband.
The suspect’s wife then reported that her parents had just called her to report that shots had just been fired from a vehicle near their residence. This scene was located on Grabenstein Rd.
Unit’s from WSP, YPD and Selah PD all volunteered to assist YSO.
On Selah Speyers Rd. near Selah Loop Rd. the stolen vehicle and suspect were spotted. Two WSP Units attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect refused. A pursuit was initiated and the suspect drove south into the City of Selah. Once in Selah, the pursuit went through several residential neighborhoods before the suspect drove out SR 823 toward SR 821. At this intersection a WSP unit was able to deploy a spike strip. One of the truck’s tires was deflated.
On Firing Center Rd. the suspect finally stopped and he was taken into custody without further incident. A loaded rifle was located in the cab of the truck.
The suspect, a 61 year old male, was booked into jail on multiple recommended felony charges.
