On June 30, 2012 at 1330 hours The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the location in reference to a missing person. It was reported that an 88 year old male who suffers from Alzheimer’s and Dementia had walked away from his residence.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office conducted an immediate search without success. At about 1530 hours Yakima County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue was called in. Mobile and Ground Teams responded as well as one K-9 Search Dog. A total of twenty volunteers responded for the search.
At about 1645 hours a citizen reported that he had located a disoriented male near Brown Lane and Hawks Point in Selah. Deputies confirmed the identity as the missing subject. The subject was suffering from mild dehydration but otherwise in good condition. He was transported by ambulance to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital as a precaution.
The family of the missing man has requested that no names be released.
