Sex Offender Information
This page is reviewed quarterly for accuracy in statistical data and other necessary updates.
The Yakima County Sheriff's Office considers the protection of our community from sex offenders of significant importance. The objective of the 1990 Community Protection Act was to provide adequate notice to the community concerning sex offenders who are, or will be residing in the community, and to assist community members in developing constructive plans to prepare themselves and their children for residing near released sex offenders.
The site, VIEW LEVEL II AND LEVEL III OFFENDERS contains a section titled OFFENDERS WITH NON VALID ADDRESSES. The offenders in this section DO have valid street addresses. The program the State uses for mapping on the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs web site contains a computer problem which causes it not to recognize certain valid street addresses. We continue to work with the State on a regular basis to remedy these problems. If there are any questions reference the validity of any address, please contact our office.
Note: Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate or harass sex offenders will not be tolerated. Such abuse could potentially end our current ability to release this important information to the public and result in the prosecution of the citizen committing the offense.
Washington State Law strictly limits public disclosure of all Level I Registered Sex Offender information. Information shall be shared with other law enforcement agencies and, upon request, relevant, necessary and accurate information may be disclosed to any victim or witness to the offense and to any individual community member who lives near the residence where the offender resides, expects to reside, or is regularly found. Level I offenders MAY NOT be the subject of general public Notification.
