On 3/8/2013, at about 0545 hrs, a shooting was reported to the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office.  A woman in her 20’s had been shot at least once by her husband.  The victim was transported to an area hospital where she was treated for a life-threatening gunshot wound.  Currently, the victim’s condition is listed as stable but critical.  She is pregnant.  The shooting occurred in their home in the 4200 block of Nola Loop Rd, in the Terrace Heights area.

The victim’s husband, also in his twenties, has told investigating detectives he believed his wife was an intruder before firing, stating the shooting was accidental.   The man is currently cooperating with detectives as they work to completely document the incident.  Detectives also remain in the home on Nola Loop, processing the scene for evidence.

Authorities are attempting to contact the victim’s family and thus cannot release her name as yet.   For further information, please contact Chief Robert Udell at 574-2602.  Further information will be released as it is available.
