As the county’s attorney, the Prosecutor prosecutes all criminal matters for Yakima County and for the State of Washington in District Court, Juvenile Court, Superior Court, Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of Washington. The Prosecutor also has the responsibility to serve as legal advisor to county departments and officials, and represents the County in lawsuits brought by or against the County in all federal and state courts and administrative agencies. The Prosecutor’s duties also extend to enforcing court orders and pursuing legal actions to collect child support payments from absent parents, including the use of criminal nonsupport and paternity actions.
