Horace is a lifelong resident of Yakima County where he resides with a wife and two children. His experience in emergency management began after he graduated from East Valley High School when he worked for the Washington Conservation Corps. There he had the opportunity to respond to multiple local disasters as well as a few national disasters such as the 2011 Joplin tornado. After that he began working at Cubcrafters assembling aircraft while he attended American Military University in his off time. From 2014-2017 Horace volunteered with Yakima Valley Office of Emergency Management where he gained experience in planning and operations as the Situation Unit Team Leader as well as fulfilling a multitude of other support positions during disasters and other events.
Now as the Operations Manager Horace is responsible for managing the daily operations of the office as well as the Volunteer, Training & Exercise, Grants, and Unmanned Aircraft Systems programs. Horace is also the Lead Public Information Officer and works to help the planners in developing disaster plans, maintaining a functioning Emergency Operations Center & Joint Information Center, supporting emergency operations as a duty officer, and assisting in maintaining partnerships with key agencies.”
