How to Report a Positive Test Result from Rapid at-home Test Kits

Please call the Washington State Department of Health COVID-19 Hotline at 1-(800) 525-0127 and press # to report the positive result from an over-the-counter test. 

Washington Exposure Notifications- WA Notify

WA Notify users can now request a verification code after a positive at-home test. Verification codes can be requested by following instructions within the WA Notify app. For iPhone users, exposure notifications can be found with the phone’s settings function. Android users should be able to open the app, select a test result to share and request a code. More information can be found here

Care Connect Washington

Care Connect Washington is a program to provide food and other necessities to people who have tested positive for COVID-19 and need support to isolate at home.  If you’ve tested positive for COVID-19 and need food or other assistance in order to isolate at home, contact the COVID-19 Information Hotline at 1-800-525-0127, then press #. Language assistance is available. The hotline hours are Monday 6am-10pm and Tuesday 6am-6pm. More information can be found here.

People with COVID-19 report a variety of symptoms that can be mild or severe. Symptoms can appear 2 to 14 days after being exposed to the virus. People with the following symptoms could have COVID-19:

  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fever or chills
  • fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

WHO SHOULD GET TESTED?

Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms or has been exposed to COVID-19 should get tested, regardless of their vaccination status. For those who have been exposed to COVID-19, testing is recommended 5 days after exposure. Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 are NOT recommended to get tested again in order to return to work. Individuals who test positive may return work after completing isolation.

WHERE TO GET TESTED

You can make an appointment with your healthcare provider, go to one of the many testing sites available on this page, or call 2-1-1 for other testing sites.

If you are being tested because you have symptoms or were potentially exposed to the virus, you should stay away from other people until you receive your test results. After you receive your results, follow quarantine/isolation directions from your healthcare provider or testing site. Additional guidance on quarantine/isolation can be found here.
