Reportable Diseases

Notifiable Conditions
In Washington State, there are 64 Notifiable Conditions that physicians are required to report to Local and State Public Health officials. The bulk of Yakima Health District’s disease prevention efforts surround these 64 conditions. When a laboratory or doctor’s office reports a condition, we gather information on the patient, conduct an investigation and provide recommendations to the patient and doctor on treatment options.

We not only want to hear from medical providers, but also from members of the community. If you believe that there is an unexpected clustering of an unusual disease in your community, you can contact our Communicable Disease staff at 509-249-6541 or at 800-535-5016, ext. 541. We are also happy to answer illness questions, although we are unable to diagnose patients.
