Swimming Pool & Spa Code Requirements
Effective Date: June 1, 2021 – The 2018 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code is now in effect.
Applies To:
✔ Any structure intended for swimming or recreational bathing containing water more than 24 inches (610 mm) deep.
✔ Includes in-ground, above-ground, and on-ground swimming pools, hot tubs, and spas.
Pool Barrier Requirements
✔ Pool barriers are required to help prevent drownings and restrict unauthorized access to pools, spas, and hot tubs.
✔ All pools must comply with minimum barrier requirements.

Electrical Permits: Must be obtained from the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.
