Information for Food Businesses

Food permits must be renewed annually. Renewal notices are sent by Yakima Health District before your permit expires. You must submit your renewal and payment by the due date to continue operating.

Food permits cannot be transferred to a new owner. If you purchase an existing business, please contact our office to get the correct forms and required fees for a new license. A plan review and pre-operational inspection may be needed if any changes were made to the unit or operation that have not been previously approved by us. 

You should notify us if you plan to make any changes to your menu, especially if the changes involve new foods or cooking processes. Menu changes can affect your risk level, and equipment needs. An Environmental Health Specialist will review the changes to ensure your establishment can safely prepare the new items.
