If your current Parenting Plan provides that you use ‘dispute resolution' or mediation, you must attempt to use that process before coming to court. You will be required to show proof that you have used that process. You may wish to consult with the
Court Facilitator for additional information related to this.
For timelines, service of pleadings and other requirements, consult the RCWs. Please see the
Family Law - General Information section of this website for additional information.
Once your matter is filed, Local Court Rule (LCR7) requires your motions and other papers to be filed with the Clerk at least 5 days prior to the day you (the moving party) desire the matter to be heard in court. This is to assist with getting your pleadings processed, forwarded to the Court file and to the Judge for review prior to your hearing.
